Ansel Adams
I have always astounded by Ansels' Adams photographs. I decided to visit his gallery in National Maritime Museum in London. How we all know that Ansel Adams is the most popular and influential photographer in American history, known best for his dramatic landscapes and beautiful photographs of American nature. In this exhibition I saw his most powerful and striking images of forests, mountains, coastlines, water in all its forms, dramatic rapids and geysers, crashing waterfalls, placid ponds, raging rivers and beautiful ice-locked landscapes. The exhibition was very good, largely informative and well laid out with themed photos in groups. What's really good is that you can go right up to them and look at the fine detail as well as stand back and look at the panoramic views. The photos were so beautiful that it almost felt like you were there with him. I was so drawn into each photograph that although they were in black and white they felt full of colour. The contrasts were amazing and showed much of the emotion he must have felt at the time. I found many of the photos truly breathtaking and inspiring. I was particularly taken by a picture of Thunder Clouds Over Lake Tahoe.
